Looks like a 58 to 64 silver fender.
Hifi purple was available in 62/63, your fender looks silver.

It probably was a Hi-Fi color, Purple or Sparkling Burgundy. Can you get the tip off? the color should be preserved.
Hi-Fi colors were candy apple, low pigment clears over silver base.

As Drinner stated if you can get where the sun don't shine it should be well preserved.

Some of the finest HI-FI & CANDY colors were all SILVER BASE!--The Gold base just didnt look as good!--I painted a shortster candy-apple with a Gold base & it didnt look right next to a my 65-GTO that was Silver base.I stripped it & had my painter do it over w/a cloud-silver metallic base--It was Beautiful!.-(lucky I olny had a peanut tank & a windshear to redo.It helped that the paint was FRESH to.Aviation stripper works great on ANY type of paint!-EVEN IMRON.Yes it cost bucks ,but worth $48 a gallon nowadays. In 1984 it was $29/gallon.But that gallon could do a complete automobile if instructions were followed to the letter!.---Im not a painter & probably there are better products out there/-I just havent been made aware of any.--with respect---RICHIE
