Re: Ok so need a color
Here are the "whatever colors", right out of the book:
Standard colors schemes in '59 were two-tone:
Skyline Blue with Birch White tank panels,
Calypso Red with Birch White side panels,
Black with Birch White side panels.
Optional colors were also available:
Hi-Fi Turquoise with Birch White side panels,
Hi-Fi Red with Birch White side panels.
Any 'Standard' color could be ordered without the Birch White side panels.
Police models were available in Police Silver or Birch White.
Congo Green was not a color that was offered for 1959.
You said you are re-selling the bike. If it is a fairly original '59, you will draw the most serious buyers with a factory color for the year, even if it a repaint. If you paint it "something that looks nice", and the buyer is looking for originality, he will automatically be looking at a repaint and try to beat you down the cost of a paint job. I've seen that happen before.
So if you have an opportunity to do it right, why wouldn't you?
