Oil Tank Mounting

#1

Post by Eric »

I am trying to put together a bike from parts and have nothing to go by
but a clymer manual, little help. I was wondering if any one has pictures
of the oil tank and rear fender mounting on a rigid frame. Frame is paughco wishbone with 40 degree rake. Pictures would be very appreciated.
Thanks
Eric

The oiltank, if original, should mount on the frame tube just above the transmission. Im not sure how its mounted in the back, but take a look at the picture, there you can se all the mounting points.

Also take a look at the blueprints on this site...The oiltank mounts to position 2.

The rear fender mounts to position 18 in the botton and if it is an original fender i think the rest gives it self.

If the parts you got is not original and you dont go for an original look, then you might have to weld some brackets to the frame to get it all mounted as you like.

Eric-- Heres a photo showing the where the front of oil bag mounts to the seat post bracket. Note the postion of the clutch bracket. Not shown on the mounting bolts are the 3/8 thick spacers used to level the front of the bag. Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the pics. The oil tank in PeterRytter first is the one I purchased
and the pic of Ohio-Rider answered two questions, the first one and the next one, which was where the brake switch is mounted.
Outstanding job, Way to go!

That would be a mousetrap eliminator bracket, not a brake switch. Mike

the oil tank is not the right one for the rigid frame it has the tabs for the tie down rods 58-up
