rear stand catch
Does any one have the measurement for the rear stand catch bolt holes for a 55 FL?
I had to get a different catch for mine since the one I had was chromed. My old chrome one has 3 holes in it ( was bolted using the 2 that where farthest apart). new one I got from old dude only has 2 holes and they are not far enough apart to line up with the holes I have. If I remember correctly my holes are 2 5/8" apart and the one I got from old dude is 2" apart. the brace on the inside of the fender has the hole for the 2" spacing but has never been drilled through the fender

Re: rear stand catch
If your chrome ones a good OEM part, why not strip the chrome off.? Are the catches parkerized , or painted on a 55?

Re: rear stand catch
They are parkerized from what I have learned. New one was $26. I was sure having the chrome removed would have been alot more$ .
Now I have a to figure out if the part is wrong or is my fender drilled wrong

It doesn't cost much at all, far less then $26 . I've had chrome removed from a lot of parts. You have a chrome guy in your area ?

Re: rear stand catch
yes I do. still wanting to verify what is correct. and my truck gets 10 mpg so $26 or 2 trips to chrome plater 30 miles away would cost $25 plus the cost of stripping chrome off

Re: rear stand catch
You can remove chrome yourself for very little cash outlay. Do yourself a favor and use the search function and knowledge base on here.

Yes that is what I ordered, not sure if that is what I actually got though.

Re: rear stand catch
It is drilled exactly like mine ( Black arrows) the new clip would line up with the holes marked (white Arrows)
This one and mine have never been drilled through the outer sheet metal where the other white arrow is.

Re: rear stand catch
dennis i think you are correct.
here is an attached shot that might help, look how far up the top screw is compared to the tail light.
you might want to strip your chromed catch and parkerize it.

Dennis,
After viewing the pictures john must have to be right, the top hole is closer to the tailight
probably the catch of mine is a reproduction

Re: rear stand catch
Looking at a tail section I have the top hole is indeed high like John posted, and my clip is the three hole type with the two widest apart holes matching the fender. The middle hole works on earlier fenders.
