Could someone please tell me if oil tank on '57 FL was originally chromed or painted.

Palmer's doesn't list the oil tank in the "chrome finish group", but that's no guarantee that one never escaped the Factory.

Is yours chrome? If you like it , keep it chrome. All the pictures I've seen were black painted, patent decal behind seat post
