65eglide!
You will always need one more tool.
And it can get expensive.
Do you have any resources like scrap steel, a welder or torch, drill press, etc.?
It's all 'tinker toys' if you do!

I use this one for the clutch hub and it always worked perfect.Just screw it on and tap with a hammer.http://compare.ebay.com/like/1607774809 ... s&var=sbar" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The front one should just slip off with a little heat.

Re: 65 pan inner primary
ya I've got all the tools, welder, drill press etc.
Would a regular jaw type puller work on the engine sprocket, something i can get at autozone?
I know this type wont work on the clutch hub, as you risk bending the plate by grabbing it from behind
I already had to make a compensator spocket and clutch pressure plate tool.

Re: 65 pan inner primary
I used a homemade and somewhat cumbersome hub puller for years and years, then I decided I owed it to myself to really splurge and buy the 'real deal' tool, made exclusively for the job.
I didn't realize they were so inexpensive................ (sigh)

Re: 65 pan inner primary
think I'll end up buying that clutch hub puller, any suggestion on how to get the other one off.
will a 3 jaw puller remove it, or is there some special puller I'm going
to need?

Re: 65 pan inner primary
The front one is on a straight spline. Often it takes very little to slide it off. The clutch hub is best pulled with a purpose built puller, as anything behind it usually bends the flange and destroys the hub. It is seated on a taper with a key.

Re: 65 pan inner primary
ok front came right off after blasting it with pb and a few blows with a dead hammer, wanted to avoid heating and destroying the oil seal.
now if i could only find the hub puller locally so i wouldn't have to wait a week to get it from ebay.
any threads on here on how to make a hub puller, had to make a couple other kinds, would rather do that if i could

Re: 65 pan inner primary
I'd bet there ain't a lot of riding to do in Mass. for the next week or two, You'll likely need the hub puller many times in the future any way...

Re: 65 pan inner primary
you got that right, gonna be in the 20's all week with snow next week.
my cyclinders and heads wont be back for a month anyways,
I would think a harmonic balancer puller could possibly work, 3 arms and a center screw, might just need to put some washers over the larger slots..
I just hate having all this stuff apart everywhere, would like to at least get that side finished and buttoned back up.
still have the carb and oil pump to do

65---You have the resources & a Clutch-hub puller is easy to make!---Just look at a PIC. of one for the correct yrs. & use your imagination! & Make-it!--If you own tools like that you obviously are a do it yourself guy & know how to use tools!--If you already have the FOOTpuller-(balancer for a car type)-you can use the centerbolt!,& tap the hubpuller to that thread!,now you have a puller for more then 1-use!----RICHIE

Re: 65 pan inner primary
Folks,
Not every sleeve falls off easily, nor is beating upon them without risks, like knocking the wheels out of true, or marring the roller assembly.
When I encountered a frozen sleeve, it took a day just to conjure a puller that would not break: And 65eglide!
A disc puller is not only simple to make, various patterns of holes will make it usefull elsewhere on the machine. I cannot remember what the bolts through this one fit: Note the silver-soldered ball bearing upon the end of the press screw, which allows a fit to a range of centers.
(With the sleeve puller in the first photo, I usually just stuck a ball in between with a gob o' grease, as I had already spent enough time upon it!)

Re: 65 pan inner primary
figured i would just go down and get a steel plate, cut a circle, so i wont have to tap it.
Ill just weld a nut on the underside and get some threaded rod.
I hate having to buy one use tools, much rather make them
thanks for the input
