Whitey, you didn't specify exactly what color scheme you were after but if you can score a copy of Greg Fields Panhead book, in hard or soft cover, there are a couple of suggestions with excellent pics. My 56 tanks are Champion Yellow stripe with black background...i love the color..

I'll see if I can get you a pic of them...

Looks great, I just found a full blown color picture of that scheme in an old book I had laying around, I'm going with the Pepper Red with the white insert, just dropped it off at my painter, I'll post some pics when it's done.

Whitey,
Sorry I didn't see your post earlier, but I have lots of pics of red and white (also other colors) 56s with the tank striping that I am using for my rebuild. I took alot of pics at the HD museum of their red and white 56 also (I should just throw those up on the photo section). The stripes are very important to get right, or they just look "off". John over at colorwrite has the correct paint colors and also the patterns for the stripes for sale, and is a hell of a nice guy to deal with.
PM me on what you want, My bike is a relatively unmolested former police bike, except for a bad 60's paint job that I'm remedying now.
Best
Gregg

Pepper Red and White on a 56 is a really great combo. It 'will' stand out in a crowd. I have a Pepper Red & Black 57 which really pops in bright sun light.
