another frame question-50 fl

the lower brace under the back bone ,on my 50 fl frame has been chopped out , like on a lot of customs, i, am thinking of re-installing the brace,, i know i can get one somewhere, but my BIG problem is, the insert or nipple it fits into on the neck ( head ), has also been ground away, anyone ever done this , with out replacing the whole head portion, to obtain the nipple-i have great friends that are even greater welders, so thats not an issue, i plan on just adding or welding on a suitable nipple to replicate the stock one-i know its supposed to have a hole for welding gas to escape--thanks---------tony schuko

I would just weld a piece of pipe of the right size to the neck casting and blend it. This also will make your life much easeier getting that piece of pipe in there. Bob L
