backbone tube thickness

I've read somewhere that "The Motor Company" changed the thickness of the backbone tube on Wishbone frames between '51 and '52.
Does any body know if this is true?
I need to replace a Wishbone frame and I was thinking about V-Twin mfg replica frame (USA made) but nobody knows if they have a thicker or thinner tubing frame.
They only say their frame are "exact replica" frame.
What can you say about???

I dont think there was ever a difference in the tube itself.But I know the top motormount was.

I dont know what the hell hes talking about.If you are unsure of the tube thickness, look down the hole for your speodo cable "in the steering neck" and you can clearly see the thickness of the tube.The thickness of the tube has nothing to do with the outside diameter where it matters.And can you tell an 1/8th inch looking in a tiny dark hole in your frame?lol

Why don’t you just buy your frame from Steve. Its top quality and he’ll stand behind it. All you’re going to get from the Taiwan Bandit is twisted piece of shit that you’re going to spend a lot of nights straightening out. Just my two cents, Bob L

Well I think that the thickness is a matter of the inside diameter. Infact he's speaking of that for the cluster that slips inside the tube.

Well I was going for V-Twin frames because they have local dealers here in Italy and so their products are a little cheaper and very easier to find.
I'm sure RFE products are "top notch"!!!
I was thinking they were from Australia, the prices on their site are in Australian Dollars...

hi , was you going to put your shovel head in it? lots of horse power will bend a frame into a u shape. so you have to watch out for cheap frames. just my opinion JR

This is the heart of this matter.
May be I look like a maniac for my bikes, but.... I'm a maniac for my bikes:
My shovelhead engine is a big bore / stroker, and is very very powerful, so I'm looking for a very strong frame.
The old frame has some straightness problems and I prefer a new frame. I mean a frame made with new technology but with its old and gorgeous look.
And the problem is here: a '48 style frame, more simple but weaker or a '54 style frame more solid but less actractive??????
