Wishbone frame

#1

Post by rbs1997 »

I'm looking at some early wishbone frames, some have a bar below the backbone, some don't. stock? or were they removed? I need an answer quick as they are on ebay. thanks rbs1997

sounds like you mean the "stress bar". Forms a triangle under the headstock/backbone. It should be there. some get removed when frisco mounting tanks,
can't comment on problems but have been advised not to do it as it was put there for a reason!
hope this helps .
ps I don't doubt one could be successfully welded back in to save a worthwhile frame.

All Harley Frames had this "cross bar" And removing it is not a good idea. (IMHO) But then again I don't think its too good of an idea to rake em either.

It's been altered, choppa' guys usually substitute the stress bar with a neck gusset.

You can come and rake my leaves, Haggis. I'm just about buried here!
