What is the largest-sized tranny ( counter shaft) sprocket one can run with a ratchet -top tranny, without running into any interference? ( I swear I saw info this on a recent post and can't find it! )

26 tooth transmission sprocket for 1936-1964.
25 tooth for '65 up (26 will hit the aluminum inner primary).

Stock 74 cu. in. Panheads are finite. Finite parts and finite problems. There is no question we cannot collectively answer. Long live the Panhead.

VT--are you sure about that 26 tooth for the earlier models? I just installed a ratchet top ( for foot shifting) onto my 1950 tranny. I have a 25-tooth sprocket on there now and it looks very, very close to the ratchet housing. Just double checking.

Sure I'm sure........I have a 26-T on my ratchet top, jockey shift '55-57 rigid frame w/ '59 motor "Sport Shift" 74 cu. in Pan (w/ 0.020" oversize pistons). It's close, but not too close. The chain doesn't rise at the top of the sprocket. I may not like my 26-T after I run it with my belt primary. I'll drop back to a 25-T if the machine won't lope along to my liking, in 4th, at 62mph.
