brown sludge
Pulled the primary off my 64 FLH last night and I noticed a brown film over everything inside there. Is this just the remnants of my clutch wear or is it something to worry about. Standard chain primary with a compensator motor sprocket. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: brown sludge
Cowboy,
If it looks sorta like light brown chocolate pudding its usually the result of water, condensation or moisture that has homogenized with the oil. Its a very common occurrence in an enclosed primary with a primary chain oiler. The chain and sprockets whip the oil and water together and sling it against the inside of the primary cover where it sticks as a coating and continues to build up until you clean it off.
