Clutch rod

#1

Post by socalrider »

Greetings men,
Putting together a frankenstein panhead. All hd parts. Motor 1963, frame 1957, tranny 1963. I want to run a hd rocker foot clutch. Im having a problem with the rod that connects the rocker to the clutch arm. The one i have is 18 1/2" long. It seems to be way too short. Can someone please tell me what is the right length for this rod?

Arnulfo--This is probably the answer you don't want to hear!-But A brother had the same problem. The fix was a little wider tube /Drilled thru it & tapped both ends Until we got it tight & a Loc-nut behind hit!.Simple Fast & its been 2yrs. now!& no problems.Ofcourse the proper fix is get the correct rod.For some reson every suppliers rod was the same size??/So We just did it on the fly ,Painted it black & hes a happy rider today.---Incase you make your own piece (make it an inch longer then what you think you need.--Respectfully---Richie

Figured it out. 18 1/2" is correct length. I was trying to adjust so that " toe " side of rocker sat higher than " heel" side of rocker with clutch engaged. Reversed it , toe lower than heel with clutch engaged, and everything fit perfectly. Thanks for the replies.
