Throwout bearing noise?
Looking at a 59 Panhead. Starts great, runs great, etc. However, several minutes after starting a noise can be heard in the tranny/kicker cover. Kind of a rattle noise and the longer it runs the louder it gets. It changes tone when you move the kicker and you can feel it in the kicker arm. Pulling in the clutch also chanes the noise and several times the noise when away when moving the clutch. If you put the bike in gear, the noise goes away completely. Only does it in nutrual, quiet in all gears. Any ideas?
Re: Throwout bearing noise?
Is it an open belt primary? When you have it in neutral, and you are stradling the bike, does the noise go away when you stand up and lean the bike over from side to side?
Does the bike shift/clutch nicely from neutral and takeoff as well as through the gears? Any noticable oil leaks from the trannie area?
