Hard shift

Hi guys..........having a bit of a problem.......replaced the primary chain and the steel plates in the clutch.....now it is very painful shifting form first to second.....rest seem fine....primary chain loose.....no out pattern on new steel clutch plates.....any other suggestions?????.....thanks Skip

Did you change the type of steel plates? I guess they make them without the steel balls on the ends now. If you did you might think about changing back to see if shifting improves.

used same type with anti rattlers....only difference is the new ones did not have the "out" marked on them.....did not know if that was a problem....Thanks.........Skip

Clutch adjustment , maybe ? The new stuff might like a little diff. handle bar/clutch adj. . Spring adj. on the pressure plate ?

Thanks guys....I was going to start this morning by taking the 31/32 measurment and loosen it up a turn or two and go from there.....will post results...........Skip
