Round shafted foot shift components

I have been collecting the parts to install the correct foot shifter on my Duo-Glide. Do these really work? seems they would be forever slipping.
I was thinking of trying a little Lock-Tite stud and bearing mount. any coments or suggestions??

The original set up works fine. Try to find an OEM shifter. I would believe the metal is superior to what you would get with most aftermarket shifters. It does clamp on a smooth shaft!

Amazingly enough, the smooth ones seem to work fine. I had my doubts since Harley went to the splined shifters. Mine has been Ok for several years, but when I am out riding I can't help but wonder when the thing is going to slip. If I didn't know about the splined ones, it would never cross my mind.
