Noticed that one side of this nut has a raised area, was wondering which side faces the sprocket , flat side or raised area

E-Glide!---I looked thru both my manuals & According to what I have read & looked at , it should go on as follows.-----Gear on up as far as you can get it on the splines--on 65 you have to have proper spacer installed!--(your obviously past this point)---After gear put flat washer with tabs on--Then the nut goes on with the flatside against it!.---Tourque to 70lbs.& lock tab.----I hope this helps ,--you probably have the same order in your manuals.--DBL.-check in the K-BASE!--to be sure!---STAY-SAFE----RICHIE/-Hopefully somebody else will chime in also!---- :!:

The raised flat on the bottom of machine nuts is called the "washing surface", and is intended to bear the load of the fastener.

I don't know why it is named that, nor why a washer is a "washer".
