'56 FLH Tranny service

#1

Post by ruralcowbiker »

I'm going through a '56 FLH that I bought from the original owner. It has been sittting 4yrs since it's last ride( his 80th B'Day). I don't know when the last time the gear lube was changed - he died before I could get all the questions asked. I'm going to flush the oil tank and fuel tanks with kerosene. Would it be OK to do the same with the tranny?

Welcome Ruralcowbiker!

Absolutely.

A turkey baster helps, if you can "pulse" it enough.

Sure, Just remember to use motor oil in the tranny and NOT hypoid gear oil!
