trans misson
Hi after a ride the other day i had her on the kickstand in nutral idling, and i heard a sound like rocks crunching. i looked at the bike and saw it jerk foward a little several times. then i shut her down and put her in the house, when i kicked the kickstarter with her in nutral it tried to roll foward. so we pulled the tranny and looked in the top, but saw nothing. i have not found any good stuff on tearing down a 4 speed, any sugestions? on a book. or other.

Re: trans misson
Mistake number one:
Not doing a step by step analysis of what the problem could be before tearing bike apart.
Mistake number two:
Not having a factory service manual in hand when attempting major repair
Mistake number three:
See mistake number one

I tore my 4 speed apart and posted pictures along the way. If you dont have a manual dont tear into it yet. Also Robbie is right, it might not be your tranny. You should try to pin point it better so that you dont have to tear into the tranny unless its the problem.

Re: trans misson
Sounds like it could be the 1-2 shift fork adjusted to far toward 2nd gear, and is tryin to engage 2nd while the bike is leaning on the kickstand. Was the hat on the shift finger when you took the lid off. Get yuour hands on the proper adjustment tool and check the adjustment. Does the tranny work properly other than what you have stated?....bosheff

Trans A mission, I luv Johnny, RIP.
You might be holding the problem, the lid and the tranny have to be synched. Books N Tools and tight lips when old crotchety buggers speak.

Re: trans misson
Get the shift drum in neutral, place it down on the hats...gently lift it off and see where the gears sit in relation to the dogs, if you dont have the special tool. before the problem it shifted smooth? Did you hard shift or lock it up before this happend...? Good luck , Adam
