Hearing a "clunk" from my motor

Just noticed this the other day, when I rev the egine from idle I think I hear a "clunk" coming from the engine. Wasnt sure at first but I just took off my drag pipes and put on the stock style exhaust and I can hear it much better now. I only get it when I rev it up from idle and I am not sure where exactly in the engine it is coming from. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas off the top of thier head.

Have you checked your motor mount bolts? Also check your seat tube down next to the rear motor mount casting to make sure you do not have a cracked or broken frame.

Ill give it a look tomorrow. I will also see if I can be more specific where it might be coming from.

Might wanna check tranny mounts as well... (be sure)

If you don't have a mechanic's stethoscope, you can use a long piece of pipe, or similar, to pin-point w/more accuracy..

Belt or chain primary? If your chain is loose some times they make a bunch of noise when you first start to rev up. You would have a slight lag on start up and when shifting.Just something else to check.

Its the primary chain, just pulled the cover and watched it whack the housing a few times when reving it. Any way to adjust these? The only think I can think of is moving the transmission back a little.

That would be the way. Which then requires ya to check yer R chain & adj accordingly.
+ shift linkage, & clutch linkage may need adj. too.

If the pr chain has any 'tight spots' in it, I'd replace it !!

The chain looked like its still in good shape so I went ahead and adjusted everything. Problem solved. Thanks for all the replies.
