Enlarging the valve hole on the rim?

I'm missing one old style 16x3 rim with big valve hole for the rubber valve. I might end up using never type rim with smaller hole for steel valve. Will there be any functionality problems if I make the hole bigger and use rubber valve tube with that rim? (I understand that there are slight differences on the looks of the rim, for example because of the "safety bead" desing.)
